I suggest checking out these recordings first to get an overview of my work:
Be Thou My Vision (Slane) - This one receives quite a few positive comments.
Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring - I like how this one turned out.
Doxology (Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow) - One of my favorites.

Some of the earlier tracks will be noisy, but I've made some studio improvements since 2005.

Be Thou My Vision (Slane) 11/22/2005

  • I close my eyes as I listen and it takes me back to that piano and the friends who sat around it.
  • Your recordings are such a blessing to me.Be thou my vision expecially, it was beautiful played.A psalm used much over here in a very good translation.Thank you!
  • I play with a trio and we do a version of Slane but it is missing something.....and while I was searching for renditions, I heard yours. It is beautiful
  • Thanks, Joel, for the awesome yet delicate songs for worship. I have subscribed to your itms podcasts, and play your works on my iPod, replacing much of the other tracks, but keeping yours on, load after load! The 8th century hymn, Be Thou My Vision, was my fathers favorite. When I found your version of it, I could only give thanks for a godly father, who loved Christ more than anything else on this earth, though he could only see darkly... In his Fathers home, my father now has full vision of Christ!

Joel,

First of all *thank you* for allowing your listeners to access your music for free, what a delight indeed! I have fallen in love with some of your renditions already. Please, please consider doing "And Can It Be?" or "Sacred Head Now Wounded". These are two of my absolute favorites. I long for a soft, sweet rendition of these two songs. Your "O Love That Will Not Let Me Go" just moves me and stirs my soul to worship. Again, thanks! I eagerly look forward to more!

Dear Joel,

Your music is amazing, i can sit back relax and close my eyes and it be sunday with me sitting in church anytime i want with this music. No matter what situation or time it is either relaxing, uplifting, sympathetic, or encouraging. I saw a few were done by request. My all time favorite hymn is Church is One Foundation. I was curious if you could add it to you podcast, i am sure it would be a great addition.

I just found your page and I love it. "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing" has been one of my favorites ever since I heard the Mormon Tabernacle Choir sing it.(look for it, it is beautiful) Could you do a simple piano rendition of it? It is simply beautiful. Thanks for the service you do for all of us listeners.

Hi Joel,

I love your arrangements! Your version of "Finlandia" is sooo beautiful and I don't see it listed anywhere on the site.

Will you post it? (I'd love the score too!)

I am going to burn a CD with all your tunes and share it with my classmates at seminary and try to play your scores on the piano. (No one has ever spent more time accomplishing less at a keyboard than yours truly!)

You are a blessing!
